Be The "Black Sheep"

Updated: Jul 26, 2020

Its time for CHANGE...

Don't be fearful and become vocal!

Like with everything else, there needs to be some boundaries defined, to how we express and get our ideas and views heard! However, leave that culture of 'pleasing everyone' in the past....

If anything, this lockdown has allowed a lot of us to think deeper, delve harder, revisit our choices and reframe our thought mechanisms.

Sometimes during mundane days at work, we often say 'I need some air' and step out to think things through. In the last few months, we were offered just that opportunity on a bigger scale, and its time to implement those changes.

One might ask, 'why me', 'why should I change', 'why do I care about my opinion on matters, till everyone around me is happy'...well that's when you begin to define yourself, who you really are.

Its not a process to get more likes to your posts, or do how I call 'likes for likes' with your contacts on social media platforms....

We really have to undo and unlearn our past habits and rethink the way forward. Regardless of your industry of work, your passion, your business, you career goals, I strongly recommend to free yourself from the shackles of the past and learn to take your chances.

Whats the worst that could happen, you will FAIL!

But let's remember and nurture this thought - FAILING IS A PART OF GROWING!

And if you haven't failed so far, you haven't pushed yourself hard or realised your true potential!

This is not an exhaustive list by any means, however, here are some tips that I have embedded in my daily life:

Express, express, express - let your ideas and views be heard. Let those thoughts flow.

Don't wait for the 'perfect' - Perfection is subjective, and if we waited for the perfect time, perfect product, perfect opportunity, we might just end up WAITING.

Crush that 'fear of being judged' - Whether we admit it or not, we all have at some point feared that if we were the black sheep, people will judge us or treat us differently. However, let's remember the saying also acknowledges the black sheep and who ever speaks about the flock of other white sheep...The point is to do what you must do for yourself and not for what others expect of you.

There's nothing more beautiful than being 'vulnerable'  - Trust me, I have been there and done that! Being vulnerable is not your weakness in any sense of the word...go out there and share your vulnerabilities and you will find that there were so many who were waiting for you to express only to validate their own experiences. People will open up like never before and the bonds you will establish will be authentic and real!

Pivot and Excel - I got introduced to this concept by way of experimenting :) Running your own business is so much fun...But oh boy! It wants you to learn something new every day, unlearn and relearn like you never did before, make decisions which you dreaded all your life and RISK TAKING is at a totally new level. That said, and with the ever evolving world around us, there was never a better time to find your pivots and realign your way forward. Honestly, if I was to do a visual representation of the pivots I had to create in my journey, it will be a beautiful and very edgy drawing...however, it will be unique, it will be my own and we all should have such road maps to look back upon and cherish. As WE MADE IT SO FAR and WE DID REAL GOOD!

With these past few months behind us and the new realities in front of us, I AM UNSTOPPABLE :)

I never felt so excited about what lies ahead and honestly am brimming with optimism about how beautifully our individual personalities will evolve, our conversations will be more real, our relationships will be more authentic, our work will be more passionate, our views on societies will be more compassionate and our outlook for the world around us will be far more resilient, aligned and encouraging.

Let's go out there and make a difference!
